Yes coffee has caffeine and it can be addictive. On the other hand there are tremendous health benefits to coffee. One of the huge benefits of coffee is that it contains a great deal of antioxidants that help control the cell damage that can contribute to the development of the disease and inflammation. A typical serving of coffee contains more antioxidants than typical servings of grape juice, blueberries, raspberries and oranges.
On the other hand, a study done on coffee drinkers in Finland showed that people who drink many cups of coffee every day appear to be at a higher risk of developing rheumatoid arthritis.

Living without caffeine is hard for most people - and for me certainly as well.
There is a healthier alternative: green tea. I admit, it took me a while to get used to the taste, but now I actually prefer green tea over coffee.
The caffein from tea does not kick in as asharply as the caffein from coffee, and green tea contains a lot of antioxidants.
